Subject/Object Deathmatch- Chapter: Prologue
The gaze does not belong to the subject but, rather, the object.
"I can feel myself under the gaze of someone whose eyes I do not see, not even discern. All that is necessary is for something to signify to me that there may be others there. A window for instance, if it gets a bit dark, and if I have possible reason for thinking that there may be someone behind it, is straight-away a gaze."
-JL(GazeMaster)
When viewed, the act of viewing changes the actions of the subject being observed.

But is there any gaze at the non-existant?
The Subject as the Platonic/Symbolic Object for political concern.
